Social Studies: Distinguish the difference between a continent, mountain, river, lake, and ocean.

Grade: 1
Question: What is the difference between continents, mountain, river, lake and oceans.
Instructional Objective: The learner will be able to identify mountain, river, lake, and ocean on Google maps,regular maps, and other apps.
Technologies:
1. Google Maps: with this app you could look at all of the different land forms in the world
2. Mapquest: this would be a great website as well to look at the different landforms
3. Earth's Landforms (for tablets): with this app students can explore all of Earth's different landforms and how they affect us as humans.
4. Aurusma: with this app you can easily have a lesson made up about landforms and then have the students create an animation on landforms
5. iMovie: with this app you can make up a presentation/movie and present it to your students, to break up the everyday teaching that you do.
STANDARD 2:
Reading: Describe characters, settings, and major events in a story using key details
Grade: 1
Question: What are the differences between the characters in the story? What is the settings?
Instructional Objective: The learner will be able to recall the different characters and setting(s) in a story. Using a computer they will type out their responses.
Technologies:
1.Microsoft Word: with this app students can type out stories and you, as the teacher, can assess to see if they know the the major events of the stories, if they can identify the settings and can bring different characters into the stories.
2.Powerpoint: with this piece of technology students can present their stories that they have written and turned it into a fun powerpoint.
3. Learner.org: this is a website where students can go and learn about the different elements of a story.
4. StoryWheel: this app is a fun writing prompt app that helps students get appropriate age writing prompts and it also helps them improve their knowledge as to what goes into a story.
5. Aesop's Quest: this app is a learning game where students must elements of a story based off of Aesop's fables to complete a level.
